FR RECTOR, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Today is our Rector’s Birthday - Fr Rolo Alcasid, SDB (related to the TV personality? not sure, don’t ask me :)). Why make a post about it? Simply put, he is St John Bosco in our midst, he is an ESSENTIAL part of our life in the seminary.
He stands as our father. He’s there to guide us through life. He takes time to talk with us and consoles us whenever we fail or lose heart. He loves us and understands our plight. He is our father.
He is also our teacher. But he doesn’t only fill our mind with knowledge and wisdom for he is also there to educate our heart. By his example we are learning how it is to be understanding. By his ways we see how it is to live a life greater than ones own. By his deeds we experience love.
But most of all, he is our friend. Imagine a man in his fifties jogging with young men half his age, doing calisthenics, and playing basketball (he even make scores, and shoots better than a quarter of the seminary population). He never lost his sense of humor (even if at times only a couple get the punch line of his jokes). He’s there in times of joy and pain. He’s there whenever we need someone to talk to. He’s there to listen to our stories and dreams, likewise our hurts and failures. He’s also there to correct us when we are wrong (in the manner of a friend). He’s there to assure us that someone is willing to listen and understand us even if others won’t.
That’s what a Rector is. That’s Fr Rolo.

Over the weekend I had spare time to edit some footages I took last week in the middle of our outbound trip (for our Observation & Participation class), during our segue to Makiling Falls. This video describes, in a more personal manner, who Fr Rolo is: (the language used in the video is a mix of Filipino, English and a bit of Italian)

Certainly my editing is not on a par with Buddy Gancenia who produces reality-TV-style videos of Philippine weddings - simply great!
Manga Me!
I found this avatar maker through Octwelve and found myself making my own manga-like avatar. Here’s the result:
Does it look like me? Post your comments, please.
Thanks!
I’m a Nuffnang-er
Roughly about a week ago I signed-up for the first-ever blog advertising community in Asia - Nuffnang (that explains the sudden appearance of the Mac-ish banner on column next to this post =) ). I got the idea from JM. So far, I’m not regretting it. Why?
Here’s why:
- The process is easy! Within a few minutes I’m signed-up and already displaying the ad banner on my site!
- The dashboard is intuitive and the analytics tool is up-to-date, statistics came in at once an hour after I’ve pasted the ad-code on my blog.
- It’s closer to my heart. Because I see my earnings in pesos and it’s Philippine-based.
Interested?! Why not try it yourself?

Face to Face with Reality
Last night I paid a visit to Inquirer.net’s Opinions Section hoping to get a dose of de Quiros’ Rub but instead Pat Evangelista’s column ‘Caught’ my attention.
It pulled me back to reality. How? Read the rest of article and discover it yourself.
