A week to go before Holy Week comes. I was flipping through a coffee table book about the Lenten celebration in the Philippines a while ago and I felt a bit gloomed and saddened by the photos. The shots are well-composed but delivered a tear-jerking message. Melancholic. But is Lent really calling us to feel down and lonely? Look at this:
Found this banner Sr. Britt’s blog through Nov. Donnie’s blog. Made me rethink of the message of lent. One must not really feel down at all. Rather, optimistic and happy for lent indeed reminds us of a simple act that could change the world (which indeed changed the world) - LOVE. In practical terms, love is translated to generosity. Lent, reminds us not only of the pains Jesus endured and the cruel death He had faced but also - and more importantly - the reason behind enduring these burdens in His life - LOVE. Jesus’ passion, death, and resurrection serve as our proof that living in truly love is an “i’m possible” thing.
